Historical gems of Novigrad

The history of Novigrad dates back to ancient times, and over the course of thousands of years it has passed through the hands of various conquerors. Its eventful and colourful history is reflected in the architecture of the town, and the most beautiful historical display is to be found in the old part of the town. The city walls, built in the 13th century, are still the symbol of the town. The Belvedere loggia from the 16th century is the only Istrian loggia by the sea and offers a beautiful view, making it a favourite stop for visitors to Novigrad.

In the centre is the Lapidarium Museum with stone monuments from antiquity and the Middle Ages. It is one of the most important collections of its kind in Croatia. The Museum also serves as an attractive contemporary space where visiting exhibitions and music concerts are held. The church of St. Pelagije and St. Maksim dates back to the early Christian period and has been thoroughly renovated several times. Its 19th-century freestanding bell tower guards the statue of St Pelagije at the top, from where there is a beautiful view of the city.

In the Aminess Sirena camp, you can also book breakfast or breakfast and dinner in a nearby hotel, and in the Aminess Maravea Camping Resort, you can only book breakfast (these services can be arranged directly at the camp reception).
