10+ campsites on the island of Krk - page 2 of 2

The northernmost island in the Mediterranean and one of the most beautiful Croatian islands, Krk has always been a popular summer destination. Its natural beauty is responsible for the name given to it by the ancient Romans two thousand years ago – Insula Aurea or, translated, Golden Island.

In keeping with this flattering name, Krk enjoys 2,500 hours of sunshine per year. This puts the island on the list of the sunniest places in Europe. Lovers of active holidays are attracted by the unique combination of fertile valleys, dense pine forests, mountainous landscapes and enticing bays that can be explored for days on foot or by bicycle. The island of Krk will not disappoint you when it comes to cultural and historical remains – the old centres of its towns and villages are a veritable treasure trove of historical gems. The autochthonous culinary delicacies are also an important part of the heritage, and you will be able to taste them every day in the restaurants of our camps.

In addition to the rich gastronomic offer, there is something for all the family to enjoy. The camps welcome you with a range of facilities in a Mediterranean setting. From Blue Flag beaches and sports grounds to swimming pool complexes with waterslides and early morning gymnastics, you will be amazed by the variety of activities on offer. The island of Krk has the largest number of campsites in the Kvarner area, so you are sure to find a campsite to suit your needs. A five-star family resort? A pet-friendly naturist camp? Mini campsites in unspoilt nature? If you are looking for a campsite that fits any of these descriptions, you are sure to find it in our offer. Choose a pitch under a canopy of trees or with a view of the sea and you will see why Krk is the heart and soul of Kvarner.

Explore Krk: the islet of Košljun

If you find yourself on the beach or on a pitch by the sea on the island of Krk, your gaze will often be drawn to the small islets that surround the island of Krk. One of the most interesting of these is the islet of Košljun, which is located in the bay of Puntarska draga and which stands out for its cultural heritage and its idyllic atmosphere. You can visit it through a panoramic taxi boat ride.

The main attraction on the islet is the Franciscan monastery, built in 1447, where monks still live today. Don’t miss the valuable archaeological and art collections, including the first printed books, and then walk the paths through the unspoilt countryside. In just 6 hectares, there are 389 species of plants and 151 species of mushrooms. The whole island is permeated with the scent of the sea and aromatic plants. This is just one of the Mediterranean pearls you’re going to discover while you’re holidaying on Krk. If you are interested in discovering others, book your pitch and experience the authentic Mediterranean.
