Along with the Roman Forum, the first thing many people associate with Zadar are the two art installations designed by architect Nikola Bašić – the Sun Salutation and the Sea Organ. The Sun Salutation consists of glass panels with solar panels. They are arranged in a circle 22 metres in diameter. During the day they absorb the sun’s energy and at night the energy transforms into a spectacular light show that is a symbol of communication with nature.
Further down the waterfront is the Sea Organ, which uses the power of the waves to create unique melodies. Seawater produces natural sounds as it passes through underwater pipes of varying diameters. In recent years, it has become a popular place to relax, meditate and enjoy the song of the sea.
