Omiš is an old maritime town 25 km from Split in the direction of Makarska. The largest local campsite Galeb was renamed Almissa in 2025. The new name is derived from the old Latin name for Omiš and thus combines local tradition with a modern form of camping, with great facilities and a long list of experiences for guests.
Omiš as a destination offers historical insights and pristine nature, with the Cetina River running through the town and the hills alongside it offering hiking excursions and beautiful views of the coast and the island of Brač. A visit to the town’s market is a must, as is a boat trip down the river and a hike to one of the two fortresses above the town.
Campsite Almissa is located at the edge of Omiš, a 10-minute walk from the old town. It is set right next to a sandy beach which makes it particularly popular with families.
The central part of the campsite is arranged in pitches, while mobile homes with two or three bedrooms are available on the right-hand side and along the left edge. In recent years several new mobile homes have been set up, and there are also units with a private jacuzzi on the terrace right next to the beach.
There are playgrounds and a swimming pool for children available, as well as a restaurant and a shop nearby. The location is also interesting for surfers and kite surfers, as the breeze blowing down the Cetina valley creates the perfect conditions for surfing.
For this season, the camping pitches have been further improved and enlarged, with new hedges planted. The walking paths, electrical wiring and lighting in the campsite have been renovated and a new common area with grills has been landscaped.
For next year the renovation of the sanitary building and the construction of 16 additional modern mobile homes are planned.
