Croatia – proud owner of Europe’s cleanest sea

Port9-by-Aminess-City-View-IV

The indented Adriatic coast has been Croatia’s most valuable ace up the sleeve since we can remember. But now it is the sea that has stolen the attention. A recent study conducted by the European Commission and the European Environment Agency has placed Croatia at the very top of the list of European countries with the cleanest coastal waters. The study included 27 EU countries, Switzerland and Albania. In the case of Croatia, 894 water locations were tested, with 99.1% declared to have exceptional quality of swimming water.

As locals, we could not be prouder, and we have to admit that it is well deserved. It is a well-known fact that many Croatian beaches are proud owners of the Blue Flag, and combined with clean sea water, things just cannot get better.

We believe that all this talk about the sea has made you want to (re)visit Croatia, so let’s get down to business. We bring you a list of destinations known for deep, clean, blue sea and, of course, some accommodation options.

Istria

Pula

Located on the southern coast of Istria, Pula is not only the largest city on the peninsula, but also home to the largest number of our campsites. Pula is known for its historical significance, but few know about the beauty of its bay beaches. You’ll need a car to visit them, but trust us: it will be worth it. While in the Pula area, treat yourself to a stay at one of our campsites. Visit campsite Arena Stoja for some seaside fun, campsite Papafigo for an inland wellness retreat, or campsite Arena One 99 Glamping for an unforgettable glamping experience.

Rabac

Rabac, along with its neighbor Labin, is one of the most desirable destinations on the eastern coast of Istria. With a view of the nearby island of Cres and the Kvarner Bay, Rabac offers a unique seaside vacation experience. Rabac’s campsites welcome you with Blue Flag beaches and clear waters, so be sure to visit campsite Oliva or Valamar Camping Marina.

Kvarner

Krk

Connected to the mainland by the Krk Bridge, Krk is one of the most visited Croatian islands. On Krk you will find more than 10 of our campsites, spread all over the island, some of them with Blue Flag beaches. Visit Valamar Camping Krk for a 5* family camping experience, FKK Valamar Camping Bunculuka for a naturist escape or campsite Tiha Šilo for a quiet retreat with your significant other.

Lošinj

The island of Lošinj, known as the island of vitality, hasn’t earned this title for no reason. The air and the sea have healing properties, which, together with the rich Mediterranean flora, make Lošinj a great destination for a relaxing vacation. On Lošinj you will find one of the most popular family campsites in the area, Čikat, along with the Blue Flag awarded Camping Village Poljana.

Dalmatia

Pag

The island of Pag, also known as the “Moon Island” and the “Croatian Ibiza”, offers something for everyone. Good nightlife and sandy beaches are definitely some of its advantages that you can enjoy by staying in our campsites. For a nice family vacation by the sea, choose campsite Straško, for a special 5* treatment choose Aminess Avalona Camping Resort, while if you’re in the mood for partying on Pag’s most popular beach Zrće, choose Noa Glamping Resort, which is located right on the beach.

Hvar

The island of Hvar is another destination popular with the younger crowd. In addition to its great nightlife, it also has a rich cultural heritage and, most importantly, a rocky coast that allows for a beautifully colored sea. Hvar is home to the luxurious Hvar Places Villas Resort, an ideal place for a relaxing vacation with family, friends or partner.

There you have it. If you have already visited Croatia, we believe that an additional reminder of what it has to offer didn’t hurt. And if you haven’t been yet and we inspired you to book your vacation in our country, that’s great news. Do hurry, clear waters and seaside campsites await your arrival!
