While many campsites in Croatia are closed during the winter, that doesn’t mean they are peacefully waiting for the beginning of the new season when the guests will return. The few months between late fall and spring are sometimes just as busy as the peak season: This is the time when all the major renovations and upgrades are done, to avoid noise and disruptions during the summer when the campsites are full of guests.
Croatian campsites are known for their top quality which is the result of consistent investments throughout the years. This year is no different so we’ve come up with an overview of campsites which have already confirmed (and most have already started working on) renovations and upgrades for the next season.
Let’s start with Croatia’s most popular camping destination
One of Croatia’s largest campsites is planning a renovation of the Comfort pitches: some of them are being upgraded with a kitchen and a bathroom, others are getting a private jacuzzi; they will also set up new larger Comfort XL pitches.
There are also plans to upgrade the family-oriented content:
This popular Campsite in Funtana, a favorite among families due to all the children-friendly amenities, is upgrading the spa and relaxation zone Balance Mediterranean Spa. There will be improvements to the existing wellness facilities for adults and upgrades to children amenities.
This large naturist campsite, which offers everything from mobile homes to glampings, apartments and of course pitches, also has a few upgrades planned for next year:
Arena Stupice is a favorite among the traditional camping guests, since it preserves the pristine feel from decades ago. However since it was among the first campsites to offer mobile homes, the time has come to replace the old units and also improve the pitches but apart from that the campsite is determined to keep its old charm.
The campsite is undergoing a major renovation and an even bigger transformation: In 2025, the oldest naturist campsite in Europe will become partly textile. This means the old campsite will in fact be divided into two new ones: Campsite Koversada Uncovered (naturist part) and campsite Koversada Covered (textile part). You can check the map of either campsite to see where exactly the division line will run.
As for the renovations: In the new textile part 500 new camping pitches will be arranged and 141 new premium mobile homes will be set up. The naturist part has already seen an upgrade of 470 new camping pitches this year and in 2025 the new restaurant will be opened according to the MaiEats concept. A new sports and recreation zone will also be arranged. A renovation of the reception and the villas is also planned in the future.
Campsites on Islands Krk, Lošinj and Rab are also introducing some novelties.
In order to receive a 5-star categorization, campsite Atea near the town of Njivice has started major renovations back in October already and the works will continue until the opening which is planned for mid-June 2025. Part of the plan is to reduce the capacity and improve the quality. The new layout of the campsite includes 260 camping pitches of about 120m2 with all utilities, some even with private heated pools. In the new no-traffic zone a mobile home village will be built which will include a shared swimming pool and Luxury mobile homes also with private heated pools. There will also be 50 glamping villas, 18 of them with pools.
Apart from the accommodation options the campsite will also get a new, larger swimming pool complex with water slides, a new children’s playground, mini club, sports park and a shop. This year a new wellness center has already opened.
This colorful campsite, located east of the island’s largest city, will see the opening of a new market as part of the Valfresco chain. There will also be a new entertainment venue for hosting events. As for accommodation upgrades: new Comfort Mare XL camping pitches will be arranged close to the sea.
Similar to the campsite across the bay, Ježevac is also getting a new Valfresco market and the V Sports park will be upgraded with additional facilities for workouts. Some nice improvements for sports enthusiasts and healthy eaters.
The campsite set on the beach of the large bay in the southeastern part of the island is also getting upgrades which will please the foodies: the new Valfresco market and the Sweet Corner café.
The cozy campsite on the eastern side of Lošinj near the coastal town of Nerezine is building a new beach volleyball court and a new dog park. They are also renovating the restaurant: the outdoor part will be completed in time for the 2025 season while the indoor part will be upgraded a year later.
Even closer to the town of Nerezine is campsite Rapoća. Comfort mobile homes are being replaced with new ones called Superior Relax – already available for bookings.
Campsite set close to the town of Rab on the island of the same name, is getting a new recreational and workout zone, an upgrade to the Maro Club (family and children facilities) and a renovation of the sanitary facilities.
Campsites further down south have been improving their offer of swimming pools and water fun.
This family-oriented campsite has already been known as a swimming pool oasis. For 2025 they have decided to further expand the pool complex with additional 2.500m2 of swimming pools (300m2 for children’s pools), some of them heated. They will also add a spray park, 2 large water slides and a new restaurant and bar right next to the pool.
Continuing with the swimming pool theme in Dalmatia: the newly opened indoor part of the Aquapark Dalmatia within the Amadria Park Šibenik resort includes water slides, children’s playground and a top-of-the-line spa and wellness center. This will enable guests to enjoy water fun and relaxation all year round and expand the already impressive offer of the aquapark’s outdoor section.
