Indulge in the hilly areas of Gorski Kotar and the untouched nature of the Risnjak National Park. Located on the longest and busiest A1 highway, connecting the north with the south of the country, it is therefore an ideal place for a short trip. Only 140 km from Zagreb and 35 km from Rijeka, the entrance fee is 6 €. There is also an excellent connection with the nearby island of Krk.
Krk Bridge, which is free, connects the mainland with the island and in less than an hour you can reach the national park. Campsite Omišalj is the first campsite on the island of Krk. Distance: 1.5 km
Paklenica National Park makes the end of the Velebit mountain and stands out with its special forest landscapes. Rare species of beech, oak and pine occupy more than half of the entire park. The most visited are the canyons of Mala and Velika Paklenica, which attract climbers from all over the world with their impressive rocks. Opportunities for active holidays are numerous, so it is best to stay in Campsite Bluesun Paklenica, at the foot of the mountain. There you can set up a tent and wake up overlooking the open sea and the vast mountain waiting to be explored.
A ticket for one day is 8€, for 3 days 11€, and for 5 days you will pay 16€ per person.
Campsite Perna**** – Mljet National Park
Distance: 49 km
Apart from the preserved forests, the green island of Mljet is special for its unique system of salt lakes that are interconnected by the sea. Historians and archaeologists will have their hands full touring the remains of Roman palaces and Illyrian forts. The Solin Canal and the Gate of Solin were marked by the Benedictines with a stone cross with an inscription in Glagolitic script.
If that’s not enough history, settle on the Peljesac peninsula, which exudes the past. A ferry from Pelješac, Prapratno, goes to Sobra on Mljet. There you can buy a ticket at a price of 20€ for an adult. Nearby the natural Campsite Perna is situated, which lies on a pebble beach and is an ideal starting point for exploring the peninsula, nearby islands and the national park itself.

A total of 89 islands make the Kornati National Park. The most indented island group in the Mediterranean has been called the stone pearl of the Mediterranean. Dry stone walls surrounded by the blue depths of the sea hide legends about the origin of this landscape, but also reveal the struggle for survival of the vegetation on barren soil. The easiest way to reach Kornati National Park is from the island of Murter, which is connected to the mainland by a bridge. Istria boasts one national park in the far south of the peninsula. Brijuni National Park consists of 14 islands and islets. What sets it apart are the famous visitors which is why the park has become synonymous with glamor. Numerous presidents, artists, writers and physicists have chosen the Brijuni Islands as a meeting place and a source of inspiration. Certainly the most famous is the attractive Safari Park which is home to steppe and mountain zebras, llamas, Somali and Istrian sheep and even one female elephant.
Brijuni is easily accessible and well connected to the mainland. You can buy tickets online or on the waterfront in Fažana, the price for an adult varies from 26 to 33€. Board a boat in the port of Fažana, which runs every hour during the season and enjoy a short ride on the open sea. And if you want to wake up with a view of the Brijuni Islands, be sure to stay at the Brioni Sunny Camping, which is located just across from the national park.
